  1. Have you ever sought mercy and it was denied to you? How did you feel.
  2. What emotions are developed in you when you see the struggles of the impaired, the homeless, or the sick and starving?

  1. How long does the mercy of God last? Psalm 103.17.
  2. Describe the depth of Gods mercy. Psalm 108.4.
  3. What powerful images does Jeremiah use to describe mercy? Lamentations 3.22.
  4. Relate to the renewable nature of God's mercy. Lamentations 3.23.
  5. How often is mercy renewed?
  6. Why is mercy a renewable resource?
  7. What merciful encouragement does Joel offer? Joel 2.12-13.
  8. What is one thing in which God takes delight? Micah 7.18.
  9. What, of the many of God's attributes, is the foundation of salvation? Titus 3.5.

  1. From the following biblical passages ob serve the mercy of Jesus in action. Who does he help? What are the conditions for receiving help?

Matthew 9.6; 14.14; 15.32; 18.27; 20.34; Mark 1.41; 9.20-27; Luke 7.13; 10.33; 15.20.

  1. From the above passages from the Bible note the words that are synonymous with mercy.
  2. With whom did Jesus associate? How does this demonstrate mercy? Matthew 9.13.
  3. Jesus and his disciples violated the Jewish Sabbath laws, How is this an expression of mercy? Matthew 12.7.
  4. What experience with the Scribes and Pharisees illustrates the breadth of mercy? Matthew 23.23.
  5. Why is it important to show mercy to strangers? Luke 10.36-37.
  6. What will be the position of God towards those who withhold needed mercy? James 2.13
  7. What happens to the person who refuses to be merciful? Matthew 18.24.

  9. Based on all that has gone before why do you believe Jesus says that the merciful will obtain mercy, but the unmerciful will not receive mercy?

  1. What steps do I need to take to better understand the development of mercy in my own life?
  2. Using these steps how may I become a more merciful individual?
