January 13, 2002, Matthew 5:1-2, 5

  1. What person do you admire the most?
  2. What Christian qualities of personality or lifestyle do you observe in this person?
  3. What purpose does competition play in life?
  4. What function does aggression play in life?
  5. What is meekness? When Jesus said, "Blessed are the meek," what does he mean?
  6. Describe the characteristics of Jesus as found in Matthew 11.28-30
  7. How is the mind of Christ described in Philippians 2.5-8?
  8. How do you understand the personal application to Christians in this passage?
  9. What do you believe it means to have the same mind that was in Christ Jesus?
  10. In Isaiah 53.7 is a description of the "suffering servant" which is applied to Jesus.
  11. What imagery does the prophet use?
  12. Peter picks up this same theme in 1 Peter 2.23-24.
  13. Describe the characteristics of Jesus found in this passage.
  14. It can be said that there are three primary characteristics of the "meek."
  15. From these passages of scripture define these charasterics.
