Volunteer Missionary Society Annual Report

The Volunteer-Missionary Society usually meets on the first Wednesday of each

month in the church fellowship room at 1:30 p.m. This year we cancelled meetings in January and February because of bad weather. In July, we had a pot-luck dinner and in October we had an outing to Oakwood Fruit Farm near Richland Center.

This year's officers are: President - Marion Sanford, Secretary/Treasurer - Vivian

Dodge, Sunshine Committee - Darlene Mellom, Luncheon Committee - Clara Harrop, Darlene Mellom and Vivian Dodge. We voted to combine the secretary and treasurer offices into one position with Vivian Dodge being elected.

There are seven members who attend regularly.

We alternate our programs - one month we have devotions and the next month we work on projects. Some projects for this year were; making lap robes for nursing homes and shut ins, blankets for "Project Linus", baby blankets for area new borns, poinsettia plants for shut ins, planted flowers in the church outdoor planters, cleaned the church kitchen. Many visits were made to nursing home residents along with phone calls and cards sent by mail. This year's lap robes were on display at the church for a couple of Sundays before taking them to Dodgeville Hospice, and Heartland Country Village in Black Earth. A picture of the members and robes appeared in the Wisconsin Congregational Assoc. newsletter. The "Project Linus" blankets are picked up by a chapter co-coordinator from Mazomanie, as we are part of the Wisconsin Heights chapter. They are all labeled with a tag, "Made with Tender Loving Care by Project Linus" and are given to a number of area hospitals, EMS, Lion's Camp, Fire Dept. and local children.

Recipients of our baby blankets this year were the Hansons, Frosts, and Roskes.

We also gave money to the Salvation Army and Wisconsin Rescue Mission.

We thank and praise God for keeping us in His care so we can serve Him in our organization. We pray that we can have the health and strength to continue.
