Pastor's Report
2002 was a very productive year for our congregation. We received into fellowship seven members (2 Active, 1 inactive, and 3 subject to Confirmation). We established and revised a Wedding Policy. Two outdoor worship experiences were held and enjoyed by all who attended. One of them was at Brigham Park and the other on our own church grounds.
In 2002, I officiated at 2 funerals, and 5 weddings. I preached approximately 47 sermons for Sunday Worship. We worshiped on Ash Wednesday, February 13. A Maundy Thursday evening potluck supper and candlelight communion service was held on March 28. On the evening of March 29, we had a joint Good Friday Service with the Arena Bible Church. A Community Thanksgiving Eve service was held on November 27. I conducted 14 worship services at Greenway Manor, including a Good Friday Service.
I attended Clergy meetings of both the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference and the Wisconsin Conference of Congregational Christian Churches Ministerial Association. These meetings provide a forum for exchanging ideas, and some opportunities for informal continuing education.
A number of calls were made to hospitals, nursing homes, and in homes of members, friends, and those in need.
The weekly Bible Study is being offered on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Currently, we are studying the book of Revelation. Leadership of the Bible Study rotates between the persons attending who accept the responsibility. The Men's Fellowship meets for a breakfast meeting at 7:00 a.m. on the second Saturday of the month. It is a small but friendly group who, it must be admitted, are excellent cooks, at least for breakfast.
I am proud to serve as your pastor. I am very grateful for your love, cooperation, support and encouragement. Together, and with the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can accomplish great things for Christ.
Respectfully submitted.
Leslie R. Shultz II, Pastor,
Arena Congregational Church
