I officially began my tenure as your pastor on February 11, 2001. In 2001, I officiated at 7 funerals (only one was a member funeral, most were out of town), and 1 wedding. I preached approximately 52 sermons for Sunday Worship, Lent, and Christmas. A Maundy Thursday evening potluck supper and candlelight communion service was held on April 12. On the evening of April 13, we had a joint Good Friday Service with the Arena Bible Church. A Thanksgiving Eve service was held on November 22. I conducted 12 worship services at Greenway Manor. I attended an Alban Institute workshop at the Olympia Resort in Oconomowoc, "Leading a Congregation Through Change," at my own expense. I attended Clergy meetings of both the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference and the Wisconsin Conference of Congregational Christian Churches Ministerial Association. These meetings provide a forum for exchanging ideas, and some opportunities for informal continuing education. A number of calls were made to hospitals, nursing homes, and in homes of members, friends, and those in need. The weekly Bible Study has been resumed and is being offered on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the fellowship hail. Currently, we are studying the book of Acts. Leadership of the Bible Study rotates between the persons attending who accept the responsibility. The Men's Fellowship has been reactivated and meets for a breakfast meeting at 7:00 a.m., on the second Saturday of the month. It is a small but friendly group who, it must be admitted, arc excellent cooks, at least for breakfast. In 2001 we received three new members into fellowship, two of which were returning to us after having moved back to Arena. All-in-all, it has been an exciting and productive year. I am proud to serve as your pastor. I am very grateful for your love, cooperation, support and encouragement. Together, and with the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can accomplish great things for Christ. Respectfully submitted. Leslie R, Shultz II, Pastor, Arena Congregational Church (top) (Back to Annual Reports Home Page)
Sunday School classes for the children have been held each Sunday during the last portion of the morning worship service. Sunday school curriculum by One Room Sunday School is currently being used. Songs, stories and activities teaching them about how children can pray, and the themes of Hope!, and Touched by Jesus! have been the years agenda. Respectfully submitted, Karen Wilkinson, Sunday School Superintendent Sunday School Fund
